Virginia Agricultural Show

2006

The Virginia Show, one of the leading Agricultural shows in the country, is in its 66th year. There are over 450 classes with over € 50,000 prize money, generously donated by our Sponsors. This commercial strength has seen Virginia Show develop into an important agricultural event, justifying the staging of leading national competitions and attracting

exhibitors from the 32 counties.

This year, the Virginia Show will be an outstanding event. The highlight of Virginia Show is the crowning of the 24th Baileys Irish Champion Dairy Cow. This Competition with its high standard of entry criteria, ensures that the animals competing reflect the very cream of Ireland’s Dairy cattle. A new competition to find the champion non-pedigree Male and Female weanling of the show is sponsored by Gunne Carnaross Mart, who also handsomely contributed to the running cost of hosting the show. These classes are opened to calves born in 2007.

As well as being a showpiece for some of Ireland’s finest livestock, there is a wide selection of classes for garden produce, home industries, fruit and flowers, photography and handwriting dogs & pets. Competitors of the Dairy, Beef and Equine breeds represent all that is best in the art of the Breeder combined with science of the Geneticist, resulting in supreme quality which cannot be contested anywhere in the Northern region. In addition to the Livestock, many local producers will offer home produced food at the Food Fair so come to the Show, savour the flavour and bring home fresh high quality food.

There is also a window of opportunity for trade and machinery specialist firms and others in the service sector, which provides an array of trade stands on display, which will deal with all aspects and walks of life.
